CHALLENGE: Design New York’s premier LGBTQ+ newspaper, cover to cover at a pivotal time in the queer rights movement. 


SOLUTION: Starting as a production artist and eventually working my way up to art director, I worked for Gay City News for 5 years, designing over 100 issues — including front page illustration, page layout, and ad design.


Other work at Gay City News included Pride-specific marketing (including trade-show booths and truck banner designs), special issues (Gay City Impact Awards), managing two junior designers, and other misc. Marketing materials.
